Gain donations for #CruzRojaResponde to continue supporting the work of delivering basic goods to individual residences and facilities holding groups of those who are particularly vulnerable, as well as supporting the work of healthcare personnel in our country. This will be achieved through a in which we encourage everyone to participate to help spread the message far and wide.
Movistar Team and the sporting society Abarca Sports want to devote all of their energy – and that of the oldest and most successful team in international bicycle racing – to helping healthcare professionals and those most vulnerable to COVID-19 overcome the pandemic.
After the donation of 250 pairs of safety glasses to the workers of Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus and of 20,000 bottles of the isotonic beverage RAW Super Drink to 17 hospitals around Spain, along with the auction of a signed, special edition Alé cycling jersey (which was designed by fans and will be worn by the team during their first race when competition returns), the Movistar team wants to spur donations to the Red Cross by holding a raffle among sports fans of a truly unique item.
To help promote Movistar Team’s campaign to support #CruzRojaResponde, and ensure it achieves the widest possible reach, the team encourages sharing the donation link in WorldCoo. All those who help spread the campaign will be entered in a raffle of the authentic Canyon Ultimate CF SLX Team MOV bicycle that Alejandro Valverde rode during most of the 2019 season, after the previous year winning the title of Road World Champion.
Preserved in perfect condition in Abarca Sports’s social campus in Pamplona after the racing season, the bike is the same Valverde used during the most high-profile tests of his ‘rainbow year’, including the Tour de France, the Tour of Spain, the Tour of Flanders, the Ardennes Classics, and the UAE Tour.
The bicycle retains all the characteristic details of the competition: the potentiometer with the five colors of the world champion jersey, the wheels with special decoration, the Fizik seat with the five world champion colors, the Lizard Skin handlebar tape, the paintjob of the frame by Canyon including the inscription “Alejandro Valverde World Champion Innsbruck 2018.” A once-in-a-lifetime collector’s item.
The Red Cross will receive donor contributions as part of the ‘Cruz Roja Responde’ project, which helps the families most in need, and the health system in its fight against the coronavirus.
Abarca Sports/Movistar Team will raffle the bicycle among everyone who posts about the campaign on their Facebook and/or Twitter profiles using #CruzRojaResponde.
